Mapping Metaphors at ICOS

Posted by Mapping Metaphor on the 1st of September 2014

This is our poster from last week's conference, the International Congress of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS), held at the University of Glasgow. It was a great chance to show the versatility of the project, as our results can be used for the study of names (onomastics), particularly when looking at metaphorical terms for landscape features such as body parts (e.g. a neck of land or the mouth of a river). Of course, this is on top of all the hundreds of other areas where the metaphor map is going to come in useful!
